#BiggestScrewUpEver: Moonlight Beats La La Land for Best Picture in Chaos

“La La Land,” the historic record-tying nominee took home 6 out of the 14 Oscars. It was nominated for Best Picture but the top prize of the night goes to “Moonlight”.

Oscar 2017— the 89th Academy Awards ended with a historically shocking turn of events never seen in long history of Oscars. The Bonnie and Clyde actors Warren Beatty and Faye Donaway added spice to the predicable night with the wrong name-calling chaos.

The Internet explodes to criticize Warren Beatty for making the biggest mistake of the night with an envelope-related disaster. During the climax of the Academy Awards when it came to announcing the biggest honor of the night, the award for Best Picture, the world welcomed the craziest moment or even the biggest screw up ever in the history of the Oscars. La La Land was announced as the winner of Best Picture by Warren Beatty. In a shocking turning point, the Moonlight cast and crew were announced as the actual winner of Best Picture when the producer of La La Land revealed the actual card, which stated that Moonlight was the rightful winner.

“There’s a mistake, ‘Moonlight’, you guys won Best Picture.” “It was not a joke!”

After minutes of chaos, the director of “Moonlight’, Barry Jenkins lead his cast and crew to head the stage with unexpected joy while the La La Land team handed the award gracefully to the Moonlight team and stepped off the stage. The La La Land crew remained graceful throughout the ordeal. As the curtains dropped, the internet went into a frenzy with the hashtag #BiggestScrewUpEver trending.
